Requests for supporting letters and applications

Edited

Summary: We can confirm a diagnosis in writing. The outcome report includes a letter to support an EHCP application. We can't provide supporting letters or reports for other applications, like DLA, housing support, PIP, or a Blue Badge. Your child's GP or wider care team can help with these instead.

What documentation we can provide

The outcome report includes a single-page letter confirming the diagnosis. This can be used in educational settings, such as with school or college.

If you're applying for or reviewing an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) for your child, the outcome report includes a specific letter to support that too. Take a look at our article on the outcome report for more detail.

What we're unable to support

We know these applications matter. It's frustrating to hit a wall when you're trying to get support for your child. Our focus is specifically on ADHD and autism assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. This means we can't provide letters or reports for other kinds of applications, such as:

  • Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

  • Housing or local authority support

  • Blue Badge

  • Additional exam time and letters about time off school

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

  • Family Fund applications

  • Guide dog or assistance animal schemes

  • Concessionary or disabled bus passes

  • Any other benefit, mobility, education, housing, or social care-related application

Why we can't help with these requests

These applications usually need input from someone with a full picture of your child's health and day-to-day life, not just their ADHD or autism. As ADHD and autism specialists, we're not the best-placed people to provide it.

Who can help instead

For applications like these, it's best to contact:

  • Your child's GP

  • A member of their wider care team

  • Any relevant specialists involved in their ongoing care

  • The local authority or education provider, where applicable

They can provide a fuller picture of your child's day-to-day support needs, and provide the kind of documentation these applications are usually looking for.
